ClockBadge vs Jibble: the short answer

The short answer to ClockBadge vs Jibble: Jibble is the bigger, more complete product, and its core is free. It does time tracking, attendance, timesheets, time off, schedules, GPS, geofencing and a shared kiosk. ClockBadge does one thing: it turns a tablet into a punch clock that people use with a QR badge, an RFID card or a PIN.

Jibble is generally available and has been for years. The ClockBadge Time Clock is in early access, with a waitlist open now. If you need a proven tool today, that alone may decide it.

Prices and features checked on 3 October 2026, on jibble.io and its help center. Plans change, so check the vendor's site before you decide.

Is Jibble really free?

Yes, Jibble has a free plan for unlimited users. Jibble's homepage says it is free forever for unlimited users, and its kiosk page calls the online kiosk 100% free for an unlimited number of employees. Jibble also sells paid subscription plans, and new accounts start with a 14-day free trial of them.

We could not confirm paid plan prices on jibble.io today: the pricing address redirected to the homepage. We also could not confirm which kiosk features, if any, need a paid plan. Check inside your Jibble account under Organization, then Subscription.

ClockBadge pricing: free for up to 3 employees, then €3 per employee per month. Every clock-in method is included. So for a team of three, either one works as a free time clock app; above that, Jibble's free plan costs less.

How the Jibble kiosk works: face, NFC, PIN and QR code

The Jibble kiosk runs in the Jibble app, which you install on an iPad or Android tablet from the App Store or Google Play. Its help center lists five kiosk modes:

  • Facial Recognition Mode, with Jibble face recognition and spoofing protection.
  • Speed Face Recognition Mode, a touchless version.
  • NFC Mode, using NFC tags or cards.
  • Basic Mode, where people pick their name from a list. Jibble also offers PIN codes to verify who is clocking in.
  • QR Scanner Mode, where each person shows a personal Jibble QR code.

Jibble QR code badges can be downloaded as a PDF and printed, or shown on a phone in the Jibble app. One limit is worth knowing: Jibble's help center says QR Scanner Mode does not support breaks, project or activity selection, PIN confirmation or geofencing. People can only clock in and out.

A shift on a QR scanner kiosk with no break tracking
  • Scan in 7:00 AM
  • Lunch 30 min, not recorded by the scan
  • Scan out 3:30 PM
  • Total recorded 8:30 = 8.5 hours

Jibble NFC works with the tablet's own NFC chip or with an external reader. Jibble's guide for external readers names specific USB models and shows one being set to work as an HID keyboard. So Jibble can work as a time clock with RFID cards too, with some setup.

How ClockBadge handles clock-in

As a kiosk time clock, ClockBadge keeps the choices short. A worker shows a printed QR badge to the camera, taps an RFID card or key fob on a cheap USB reader, or picks a name and types a 4-digit PIN. The USB reader acts like a keyboard, so it works on Android tablets and iPads.

There is no face recognition. Instead, there is an optional photo at punch, and every edit is kept in an audit trail. Breaks are part of daily totals, so payroll sees hours net of breaks.

Jibble offline mode, app pinning and setup

Both tools keep punching when the internet drops. Jibble offline mode lets the kiosk store time entries on the device and sync them once it is back online. ClockBadge stores punches on the tablet and syncs them later with their original time.

Setup differs. Jibble is an app you install and log in to, and Jibble's help center explains how to lock the tablet with Guided Access on iPad or app pinning on Android. ClockBadge runs in the browser, with no app store install. You lock it the same way, with guided access or screen pinning.

Where Jibble is the better choice

Jibble is the stronger pick in several cases. Saying so helps you choose well:

  • You want face recognition instead of badges, with spoofing protection.
  • Your crews clock in from their own phones in the field, with GPS and geofences.
  • You need time off, work schedules, timesheet approvals and invoicing in one place.
  • You want exports to Xero, QuickBooks or Deel, which Jibble names on its homepage.
  • You have a large team and want the free plan for unlimited users.
  • You want a product that is fully available today, not in early access.

Jibble also keeps a change history for time entries, with who edited what and when, and exports reports as XLS or CSV.

When ClockBadge is the better fit

Look at ClockBadge if you want a plain wall clock and nothing else. It fits a small shop, kitchen, workshop or site where people punch at one tablet. The admin sees who is in right now, daily, weekly and monthly totals with overtime and breaks, and hours per job or site. Exports go to Excel, CSV or PDF, and the kiosk shows each worker's own language.

It also suits teams that prefer badges and cards to face scans, which some workers find intrusive. A card or a QR badge plus an optional photo stops most buddy punching.

Questions

Is Jibble really free?

Yes. Jibble states on its own site that its time tracking is free forever for unlimited users, and that its online kiosk is free for an unlimited number of employees. It also sells paid subscription plans with extra features, which start with a 14-day trial.

Does the Jibble kiosk work offline?

Yes. Jibble says its kiosk has an offline mode that stores time entries on the device during an outage and syncs them to the cloud when the connection returns. ClockBadge works the same way and keeps each punch's original time.

Can Jibble use QR codes for clock-in?

Yes. Jibble has a QR Scanner kiosk mode where each person scans a personal QR code, printed from a PDF or shown in the app. In that mode, Jibble's help center says breaks, project selection, PIN confirmation and geofencing are not supported.

Does Jibble work with RFID cards?

Yes, through NFC. Jibble's NFC kiosk supports the tablet's own NFC or an external NFC or RFID reader connected by USB. Its help center lists recommended readers and card types. ClockBadge also supports RFID cards and key fobs through a USB reader that acts like a keyboard.

What is a simple Jibble alternative for a wall-mounted tablet?

If you only need a punch clock, ClockBadge is a simpler option: QR badges, RFID cards or a PIN, offline punches and exports to Excel, CSV or PDF. It runs in the browser and is in early access, free for up to 3 employees.

Do I need face recognition to stop buddy punching?

No. Face recognition is one method. Personal badges or cards, a private PIN and a photo at punch also make it hard to clock in for someone else, and an audit trail shows every edit afterwards.
