What the timesheet adds up
Each row is one day of the month. Weekly totals run Monday to Sunday, so overtime is counted per week even when a week is split across two months.
Weekends are shaded so they are easy to skip. Each month is saved separately on this device.
Hours to decimal for payroll
The totals show hours and minutes and decimal hours. Use the decimal figure when you multiply by an hourly rate: 162:30 is 162.5 hours.
Questions
What is the difference between a time card and a timesheet?
A time card usually covers one week of punches. A timesheet often covers a longer period, such as a month, and is used for payroll or client billing.
How many work hours are in a month?
It depends on the month. A full-time schedule of 40 hours a week is about 160 to 184 hours a month, depending on how many workdays the month has.
Can I use it for a part-time job?
Yes. Fill in only the days you worked. Overtime only applies once a week goes over 40 hours, if you turn it on.
Guides
- How to Fill Out a Timesheet, Step by StepTo fill out a timesheet, write the date, your start time, your end time and any unpaid break for every day you work, then subtract the break to get each day’s hours. Add the days for the week, convert the total to decimal hours, check it, and sign. The steps below show each part with real numbers.
- How Many Work Hours Are in a Year?A full-time year is usually counted as 2,080 hours: 40 hours a week times 52 weeks. If you count the real calendar, 2026 and 2027 each have 261 weekdays, which is 2,088 hours at 8 hours a day. After holidays and paid time off, most full-time workers are on the job for closer to 1,900 to 2,000 hours.
