Adding hours and minutes
Add the minutes together first. Every 60 minutes becomes one more hour. 3:40 plus 2:35 is 5 hours and 75 minutes, which is 6:15.
Subtracting works the same way in reverse: borrow 60 minutes from the hours when you need to.
Decimal hours
Decimal hours are hours written as a number: 1:30 is 1.5 and 0:20 is 0.33. To convert back, multiply the decimal part by 60: 0.75 × 60 = 45 minutes.
Questions
How do I add up hours and minutes?
Add the hours and the minutes separately, then turn every 60 minutes into an hour. The calculator does it for any number of times.
